The story of the formation of Soviet intelligence, told through the prism of the fate of its youngest chief - 31-year-old Pavel Mikhailovich Fitin.

In 1945, as the War of Resistance Against Japan comes to an end, the Japanese army secretly transports a large quantity of poison gas bombs to China. Ou Xiao’an, the ace special agent of the military, is injured while escaping from the "810" poison gas research institute. He is inadvertently rescued by Tan Moqing, another agent. When he wakes up, he discovers that he has lost nearly four years of memory. As they work together to expose the Japanese conspiracy, Ou Xiao’an and Tan Moqing frequently join forces, ultimately unveiling the identities of the Japanese spies while also revealing their own roles as underground party members. However, a greater crisis looms ahead; they remain unaware of the whereabouts of the "810" research data and the hidden gas bombs. Faced with numerous dangers and obstacles, how should this group of lonely yet brave individuals advance and fight courageously?

The miniseries is based on documentary material about the actions of Soviet intelligence in Tallinn occupied by the Nazis.

Alexander Belov is a Russian spy, who travels from Soviet-held Latvia to Nazi Germany under an alias of Johann Weiss. His mastery of the German language, steel nerves and an ability to manipulate others help him to use his connections in the SS to ascend the ladder of the German intelligence. He uses his position to identify sympathetic Germans, who help him to procure vital intelligence, and to help local resistance movements in their collective fight against Nazism.

The KGB has influenced world events on numerous occasions before. Assassinations, coup d’états, theft of nuclear secrets and sexpionage are just standard trademarks for an organisation that still sends shivers down the spines of politicians and military figures the world over. It may have changed its name on various occasions, from Cheka to SPD to OGPU to NKVD to MGB to KGB to an array of different names after the collapse of the Soviet Union to FSB and SVR today, but it will forever be known, internally and externally, as the KGB.
