It seems like a fairy tale story. Plucked from obscurity by the legendary actress Chigusa Tsukikage, 13-year-old Maya Kitajima is given the chance of a lifetime and the opportunity to study at a legendary acting school. THAIFJORD is a documentary series following the life of five Thai women and their husbands living in a remote fjord in Norway. Most Norwegians consider the “Thai-ladies” to be desperate women escaping poverty and prostitution by marrying hopeless and sexist men. They are believed to live in bad relationships where they equally exploit each other, and there is no love or even respect between them. But what do these men and women think about themselves and the choices they have made in their lives? What does relationship and marriage mean to them, and can they tell us anything about love?
